This Gibeon iron-nickel meteorite was stolen from a dealer at the Bristol, Connecticut show October 15, 2016. It weighs about 4 pounds and has a distinctive hole in the corner as shown.

The weight is wrong.

This specimen, 135 mm in size weight almost 2.5 kg.

Useless to say this has not been stolen on a table by sliding it in a sleeve.

I hope the victim will retrieve his specimen.

those are photos of the same meteorite?

30th Oct 2016 13:16 UTCHarold Moritz 🌟 Expert

No, Gibeon has a large strewn field with many pieces found.

I will try to get better weight info, but obviously the rightful owner cant do that right now....

4th Nov 2016 21:38 UTCHarold Moritz 🌟 Expert

I'm told the stolen meteorite weighs about 10 pounds, or 4.5 kilos.

That seems more like it ;-)

The thief may try to resell it by cutting it up. I suggest that readers be on the alert for someone selling large Gibeon slices.
