I recently purchased this rhodochrosite specimen. The only location it has is the word Peru. I know one can never know for sure, but there tend to be specific types of crystallization for different mines, as a generality of course. Does anyone out there have a suggestion for the name of the mine(s) that would have produced this specimen? (For size comparison, the acrylic stand has a two-inch base.)

These days there are several suspects to choose from but three stand out: Pachapaqui, Santa Rita, and Manuelita. There are plenty of others but these are the more recent producers.
