GeneralIki Island, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan

14th Sep 2016 18:20 UTCSteve Stuart Expert

I recently received in trade a nice micro-specimen of erionite from Tyojanbaru, Iki Island, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. The closest match in Mindat is http://www.mindat.org/loc-43297.html- Chojabaru, Iki Island. I found a map of the island on the web, but neither locality shows up as a placename. The Mindat entry for Chojabaru might imply that it is a lava flow or basalt field, not a village or other placename.

Thanks,

Steve

Chobaru is a village and is also a name of a formation.

"Ty" is just another way of writing "Ch" in japanese.

Well, that was quick! Many thanks, Dave and Alfredo. I'll post some pics of the erionite today.
