Mineral ExchangesAmethysts wanted!
15th Mar 2013 15:38 UTCAdam Kelly
I am an amethyst collector, looking for rare or unusual locals.
Mostly what I need are European locals, but interested in anything I don't have.
For trade I have minerals from all over the world, with a focus on North American minerals.
I'm also a jeweler with many pieces available for trade, or I could make something custom.
Thanks so much,
Adam Kelly

What do you have from South Carolina? I may have something you don't.

My email address is...garnets@hotmail.co.uk

The only locations I have from South Carolina are Diamond Hill, and due west.
Both of which are OK, but I can always upgrade.
Spencer,
Yes, and yes.
I do have some garnets that I would be willing to part with, are you looking for anything in particular?
16th Mar 2013 13:53 UTCAnonymous User
Actually what I have access to is likely Warren County, NC. Single almost DT amethyst crystals on white crystallized quartz. There are no pictures from this locality on mindat.
16th Mar 2013 15:07 UTCAdam Kelly
Sounds like something I would like.
What would you be interested in, is there anything in particular you collect?

No worries, I DO appreciate your help, and I hope we can make a trade in the future.
Don,
I actually prefer small cabinet size, but will take what I can get.
I also prefer nice aesthetic pieces, but not all localities produce stunners.
Also thanks, but Mule Creek, and Grant County I have well covered.

Sorry for the delayed response, had some computer problems.
Zack,
I do have a few pieces from Hallelujah Junction, but not very nice, and would always like to upgrade.
The specimens I have are more smokey than amethyst, and I want the purple to be more obvious.
What would you be interested in?
Trevor,
I have nice specimens from Kuridala, Harding Springs, and Ewinger Creek, compliments of Patrick Gundersen.
I also have a piece from Silent Grove, but would be interested in other locations.
What do you collect?
Thanks,
Adam

Do you have zoned amethyst from Lapland in Finland? It sometimes has all milky, smoky and amethyst zones colors in a single sample: probably someone here has a sample: I only have a single zoned crystal with milky quartz underneath & amethyst color on top.
I have rare amethyst (partially with goethite inclusions) from the Otamo Finland locality. Only 2 good samples found by myself are known from there and the crystals aren't that big. Unfortunately, my second sample is exchanged to Italy & the only other one i have I can't bear to part with. I'll keep you in mind if I manage to find 1 more unlikely good sample: They other pieces only have "splashes" of purplish color in the loose crystals & are nothing special.
10th Sep 2013 14:43 UTCAdam Kelly
Sounds like interesting stuff.
If you come across some nice examples, please keep me in mind.
Thanks,

I did not see any amethyst from Hungarian location, so I share one. It is a rare, velvet amethyst. The location was found about 3 or 4 years ago, but there is nothing just little chunks nowadays. I attached a photo.
Thank you,

Last weekend, I saw a special "crystal form" from this locality (Nyíri). One of my friend showed a velvet amethyst, but in "rice" crystal shape. Maybe a pseudo after calcite.
3rd Oct 2013 04:25 UTCAdam Kelly
It is a nice "velvet" type, but no big crystal form.

I´m collector from Czech republic. My speciality are quartz in all forms. I collected minerals 36 years, quartz 26 years. I have one amethysts from JXR, but I know that in USA are beautifull amethysts in more others localities. For example Denny Mountain, Crystal Hill Mine, Kingston Range, Fat Jack Mine and others.
So in our country are lotalities with amethysts. If you have interest about amethysts fro Czech republic, then we can change some.
Thanks for your answer

The old time pieces from Porkura, Romania are unlike any other - with their unusually intense purple color they are immediately recognizable. They are very difficult to find however.

I collect many different things, but my favorite is amethyst,
and I try to get them from as many different locations as possible.
Rhodochrosite and aquamarine also make up a good part of my collection.
What unusual amethysts do you have?
Thanks so much,
Adam

I have amethyst from different lokalities in Czech republic, but so from Kanada, Sardin, Elba, Rusland, Madagascar, Maroko, China, India, Spain and others. In our country are amethysts in melaphyr, hydrothermal quartz veins and so in ore veins. Are in geods, drusas and solo amethyst crystals.
Our lokalities are by Bochovice, Hostákov, Valdíkov, Kojatín, Česká Mez, Nové Veselí, Hluboké - this are near my dwelling-place. Following are in west , north and east Tschechien. Have you some amethyst from my country? Write me please from which lokalities in USA you sell or change perfect undamaged drusy or solo crystals of amethyst.

I have extra amethyst pieces available from the following locations, all free from damage.
Kingston Mountain, California - single crystals about 5cm tall, and small clusters.
Four peaks, Arizona - etched single crystal with visible C face about 5cm tall. Very typical for location.
Mesa County, Colorado - single small crystal about 3cm, large for location.
Green Ridge, Washington - scepter with stem about 3.5 cm tall
Jefferson County, Montana - double terminated dark smokey amethyst, about 2.5 cm
Park County, Colorado - onegite included quartz, small cluster of crystals 3cm wide
Southbury, Connecticut - a few joined crystals with minor calcite 4cm wide
Lord Hill, Maine - stacked cluster of crystals on scepter like stem. 8 cm tall. *some slight chipping, but very nice from a rare old local
I also have an extra Guerrero, and Vera Cruz piece available, I know not exactly the U.S. but close.
These pieces range in value from about $15 to $75 USD.
I don't have any amethyst from Czech, and will be happy with anything you have to offer.
I would prefer a few nice pieces over many small pieces.
Thank you so much,
Adam Kelly

Maine, I have pretty well covered for amethyst, unless it's a real cracker.

A.A. Faller,
The only amethyst I have from Virginia is from Prince Edward County.
So unless that is actually the same local, I would be interested in trading.
What would you be interested in, in return?
Vernon,
I liked the smaller piece best because it is free of damage, but if you had a bigger piece that was undamaged I'm sure I would like it.
Taking photos today for you... I hope.
