Mineral ExchangesAny collectors of active minerals in SE England?

30th Sep 2014 11:20 UTCMike2014

Hi there

Any collectors in SE England looking for active minerals? I have a few samples I'd like to trade for interesting/attractive non-actives. Am uncomfortable mailing in the current climate so prefer face-to-face meet by arrangement somewhere between London and SE coast. If any interest please contact me - I'm currently putting a list together. Please, only collectors with experience in the safe handling of storage of actives. Always follow basic health and safety guidleines when handling actives.

Here is a useful Mindat article: http://www.mindat.org/article.php/887/A+few+thoughts+on+the+safe+handling+of+radioactive+rock+specimens

Hi Mike, I live in Great Yarmouth, I have been collecting for 48 years now, and have a vast collection from all over the world, but my main collection these days are garnets, you can contact me here....garnets45@outlook.com

Hello! I am a Mineral collector of radioactive and non-actives situated in Kent. I wouldn't say I am able to travel for trade because of my current age, yet, it would be nice to make contact with another mineral collector in the SE. I am very aware of the safety precautions in radioactive mineral collecting and always keep my specimens in ventilation to prevent radon build up; I typically use photos of my specimens to view the qualities to enhance safety on all principles. Contact me if you please, upon a general basis that is. :-)

Hi Mike

If you want to come along to the mindat mini symposium on the 16th November in Haywards Heath (see mindat front page) there will be opportunities there to exchange minerals with other collectors. Owning and exchanging naturally radioactive mineral specimens is perfectly legal in the UK so we don't need to be afraid to discuss it!
