Techniques for CollectorsXRD powder pattern search-match

26th Sep 2013 15:47 UTCHenry Barwood

I am completing the repair of an older X-ray diffractometer that I plan on using for powder camera XRD work. I developed a procedure to digitize the films and convert them to files that can be processed using a search-match software. Unfortunately, I do not have access to this type of software any longer. Anyone have a suggestion for a free or low cost S/M software and database?

Because the ICDD databases (PDF-2, PDF-4+) are extremely expensive, the cheapest solution may be to use Match! software with COD database. Academic price of Match! is 600 EUR, while COD is freely available. Visit the home page of Crystal Impact, where a time-limited demonstartion version can be downloaded: http://www.crystalimpact.com/match/

The best solution would be to find a free search-match software that can handle the COD database.
