How does one distinguish apaunite from versiliaite? Many of the photos of apuanite crystals do not look like the one in this paper http://rruff.info/doclib/am/vol64/AM64_1230.pdf in fact they look orthorhombic ie. http://www.mindat.org/photo-187448.html which means they should be versiliaite? The same paper showing a drawing of a crystal of apuanite, refers to crystals of versiliaite but does not show a drawing of a versiliaite crystal. If there are versiliaite crystals at this locality why are there no photos of versiliaite crystals in Mindat except this dubious one http://www.mindat.org/photo-559542.html. ?

I sent one of the orthorhombic looking crystals to Travis Olds who kindly did single xl XRD on it. It turns out that even though the crystals do not show any of the modifications illustrated in the paper describing the species they are indeed Apuanite. Travis obtained a cell of 8.3778x8.3778x17.9854

Does anyone know what the versiliaite crystals look like or where they are found in relation to the apuanite? The original paper http://rruff.info/doclib/am/vol64/AM64_1230.pdf is not clear on this and has no illustration of versiliaite.
