PhotosMcgovernite - Garpenberg Norra Mine, Garpenberg, Hedemora, Dalarna, Sweden

Does anyone have a reference for this so I can add the locality it to the database?

Have not seen a reference but I thought this was a "mcgovernite-like mineral". Would definitely like to see a reference.

STOP!! Don't add anything. It is already in the database. I attended to this years ago! See: "Unnamed (Mcgovernite-like mineral 2)." Before adding anything or changing anything in Mindat you MUST, MUST first search relevent locality files and species listings to see what is already there. Searching the locality file would have immediately disclosed the presence of this material in the database.

But the locality is still not listed on the Mcgovernite page? Why?

4th Aug 2012 18:20 UTCChester S. Lemanski, Jr.

It is not listed because the material from Garpenberg has NOT been proven to be McGovernite; therefore, it is not listed under McGovernite! As I wrote above, the material is called "Unnamed (Mcgovernite-like mineral 2)" at this point until or unless someone proves it to be McGovernite. If you look for that species file, you will find it. McGovernite has the largest molecule in the mineral realm as I recall. This Garpenberg material has similar properties, except optics! There is also a "McGovernite-like mineral 1."

The error on my part was not changing the name of the material on the photo. That is now done.

Thanks Chester!
