PhotosAzurite - Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia

Dear Jeffrey,

for me there could be a locality mistake for this specimen.

This Azurite seems more like from Milpillas, Sonora, Mexico.

I attach the photo of mine that is from Milpillas. The specimen is 83 x 39 x 51mm

I see your BIG Fluorite from Cave-in-Rock, Illinois (the most recent photo). Incredible specimen, very beautiful!!

Let's maybe try a different approach: Jeffrey, do you have any provenance on this specimen to support that it is from Tsumeb? I too, have my doubts, but few things are out of the realm of possibility.

I have three similar specimes in my collection, all from Tsumeb..

Hello,

Thanks for looking at my photos. I am new to mindat and am cataloging my collection on mindat and learning some new things about some of my specimens from other mindat users. Paolo thanks for the appreciation of the flourite. I am starting to upload my self-collected specimens starting with rutile from Graves mountain, Georgia so take a look.

I admit to not always getting location information from dealers when purchasing specimens but this case is different. The azurite was purchased in 1995 in Tucson from Hamburger Mineralien Zentrum. It came with a certificate indicating it was from the 1994 Easter Pocket at Tsumeb on the 8th level of the mine. I agree the material out of Mexico is very similar.

In 1995 i don´t recall that there was any azurite from Milpillas available in GER :-)

No problem with Tsumeb from my POV
