Hi everybody :-)

Could you help me to determine this specimen from Katanga....

Piles of tabular crystals, could look like hemimorphite but....???

Pearly aspect

No reaction in Hcl

Thanks a lot,

Jean

prehnite?

It kinda looks like hemimorphite, but the acid should have eaten it up depending on how long you left it in.

You may have to do a little more testing on it, such as hardness or specific gravity if you have the ability to do so.

Thanks Paul,

I will try again with the acid testing tomorrow.

Prehnite was also my first idea. However, Stilbite should also be possible.

Thanks.

The problem is that neither stilbite nor prehnite are referenced for Katanga...

15 - 20 seconds in Hcl without any reaction...But maybe it is not long enough ?

Adamite or prehnite?

Epistilbite? Hemimorphite is not usually thought of as pearly from what I have seen.

Steve.

Its probably hemimorphite.

Thanks, hemimorphite is possible in the area of Kipushi....
