Identity HelpSerendibite from Quebec

I am somewhat confused about what the serendibite looks like. http://www.mindat.org/photo-551049.html Is this tourmaline replacing serendibite? Or is the serendibite blue?

Dark blue is serendibite, pale blue is uvite.

Hello Reiner Mielke,

I have a similar looking mineral like this, and steel knife can easily scratch it and i don't know what is it...

Hello Phil,

So would you say the sample I linked to is uvite pseudo serendibite?

30th Aug 2015 21:54 UTCPhil M. Belley Expert

Hi Reiner,

Yes, it's a pseudo. Though 90% of "pseudos" actually have a serendibite core (can vary from a 2 mm bit, to almost the entire volume).

Shouldn't that photo I refered to be relabelled as Uvite pseudo serendibite. Also it would be good to include the photo of serendibite you posted here to go into the database so other people will not be mislead into thinking everything that is blue there is serendibite. A job for a manager.
