Hello,

Can anyone help me figure out the locality of this Pyrite specimen please?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Locality info is lost forever. Pyrite is very common, and the habit is not unique enough that it could not occur at multiple locations around the world.

It is somewhat unusual. Someone may have a piece from the same find with a locality.

Is there any matrix on the bottom?

If so, a photo would help.

Tens of thousands of very similar specimens have come from the Huanzala mine in Peru.

I agree with Dana. A label could say "Probably Peru" - as long as it is clear that the loc info is not certain, since it wasn't accompanied with the data.
