Identity HelpUK Goethite location help

This is a specimen I have had for a long time and I was looking for any help with location.

The label said "Wheal Area, Kenidjack Valley, St. Just, Cornwall, UK" On the mindat page there are sideritet specimens from the Boswedden Mine shown that seem to fit well with a mine for this piece.

If anyone can help a bit more to pinpoint the exact location, sure would help.

Thank you

Rolf

Hi Rolf, there were many very productive mines in the vicinity of Kenidjack and most of them if not all had iron sulphides in them to some degree. Best person to contact would be forum member Dale Foster. Though primarily a 'tin man' he knows Cornish locations better than anyone. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Jay.

Jay,

Thanks, will try and contact Dale Foster and see what he says.

I saw on mindat that there are a number of mines in that valley.

Regards

Rolf

Hi Rolf,

Thankfully this is a nice simple matter - there is a small spelling error on the label, it should read Wheal Drea, which is a mine in the Kenidjack Valley and does produce Goethite specimens.

Regards

Dale

Thanks all esp. Dale,

Checked on the Wheal Drea page and sure enough, looks just like the material.

Fixed my label on this now.

Appreciate the help.

Don't need to add the photo since there are plenty already.

Rolf
