A house on our block recently sold, and boxes and boxes of books were put out for the trash man. I picked out a few interesting items, one being a 1931 Bausch & Lomb catalog of precision instruments pertaining to metallurgy, etc.


Here is one black & white image from the book, the only one of a mineral and not processed metal. It shows Austinite. Thought it might be fun for more technical folks here to see it.

Austenite is a type of steel. Austinite is the mineral.

Yes, one has to be careful about the spelling of names of things.....one letter change can mean a big difference in what one is talking about.
