Mineralogical ClassificationHidemannite -- what is it??

19th Feb 2006 22:10 UTCNiels van Velzen

I've seen a 'Hidemannite' for sale at the Tucson show. First, I didn't pay much attention to it but back at home I wanted to know what it is. I've searched mindat, google and Hey's but I can't find it!

According to the dealer, Hidemannite is a rare Uranium mineral from Czech.

Does anybody knows what it is??

Unless it is a newly approved mineral and mineral name, the only thing I can think of that it might be would be widenmannite, a uranyl carbonate. It's been reported from two localities in Bohemia - Jachymov, and the Prokod mine, Pribram.

I agree with Jim. Most probably the species is widenmannite.

Hello,

right name is widenmannite, found in Pribram and Jachymov.

Thanx :-)
