I have a piece of calcite with cream-coloured very very fine hair like inclusions growing into the crystal from the little bits of matrix rock still attached to it (unidentified).

Anyone seen this before or know what it could be?

Just a guess, but it might be a zeolite mineral of some sort.

Hi Rock,

Could it be Okenite?

12th May 2013 13:11 UTCRock Currier Expert

Possibly, but there are a lot of whitish fibrous minerals. Do you know the locality?

No, I'm afraid I don't know the locality. Although there was one rather nice apophyllite with stilbite specimen mixed in with the job lot of the calcite...so could be from India (came from a store selling bankrupt stock, so no info with it).
