Improving Mindat.orgLocality error
2nd Nov 2019 06:56 UTCAndrea Oppicelli
I want to point out that the wording of this place https://www.mindat.org/loc-46076.html
In my opinion, it presents some errors:
The quarry called "Arrestra" is located in the locality of Molinetto and is in the municipality of Cogoleto in the province of Genoa. It is not in the municipality of Varazze, province of Savona.
The word "Varazze and Sassello" for this quarry is a mistake as they are distinct municipalities https://www.mindat.org/loc-54862.html
Only the top of Mount Beigua is in part of the municipality of Varazze and in part of the municipality of Sassello
The Mount Beigua massif is part of many municipalities and two provinces and is a regional park:

The coordinates given for 'Arrestra" quarry do put it inside Varazze. If this quarry is in the wrong place we need the correct coordinates.

The exact coordinates of the quarry "Arrestra" :44.386028, 8.627497The coordinates I indicated refer to the most well-known location and which gave the mentioned mineral samples; it is located in the municipality of Cogoleto in the province of Genoa. One hundred meters before this quarry and in front of it beyond the stream there is another small quarry; this is in the municipality of Varazze and in the province of Savona. The coordinates indicated on Mindat for this location arte not wrong. In it there are some minerals, but not as many as in the best known. However, the geological context is similar. The name "Sassello" referring to this quarry is just wrong

the place indicated with the number 3 in the municipality of Cogoleto

Is this the same places as 'Arrestra' or different?
3rd Nov 2019 09:05 UTCAndrea Oppicelli
Exactly that is it. Now the quarry is no longer active and has been used as an aggregate deposit. Commercial buildings were built on part of the quarry. However, some minerals can still be found in some boulders along the stream.

What is the source of the name 'Arrestra'?
3rd Nov 2019 17:17 UTCAndrea Oppicelli
The researchers of minerals commonly call it the "Arrestra" quarry, although in reality the most correct name should be that of the "Molinetto" quarry. The name Arrestra is the name of the stream that crosses the valley.

https://www.mindat.org/loc-46076.htmlThis is better, but the municipality and the province are wrong. The right municipality is Cogoleto and the right province is Genoa
