GeneralPseudomorphs symposium at Miami University
13th Mar 2014 16:55 UTCAlfredo Petrov Manager
The program will be held in the Limper Geology Museum, Shideler Hall, Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio. (Potential participants who travel to Miami Florida or Oxford England do so at their own risk.) Free parking will be available across the street in the Cook Field parking lot.
Specimens will be on display from 11:45 onwards, with lectures from 12:30 to 4:15. A display case will be available if you have any special pseudomorph you want to bring along for show-and-tell. Speakers include:
Dan Hall - Pseudomorphs - the ghosts of minerals past.
Wladek Betkowski (all the way from Poland!) - Advances in understanding mineral replacement by coupled dissolution-precipitation. (In other words, how on earth do they do that?)
Terry Huizing - Aesthetic pseudomorphs. (Yes, there are such things!)
John Rakovan - Sakura-ishi - Mica pseudomorphs after complex cordierite-indialite intergrowths. (The "cherry blossom stones" from Japan.)
Pete Richards - Pseudomorphy involving oriented replacement, particularly reticulated rutile.
Alfredo Petrov - Pseudomorphs from Bolivia, particularly native copper after aragonite.
John Medici - Pseudomorphs from Graves Mountain (Georgia).

I wish we lived closer so we could attend!
any chance of a CD video and/or a booklet of the talks being made available for purchase after the symposium?
Thanks,
Fred & Linda

It would be nice if someone did do a video of this symposium.
