Field CollectingZeolites Northern Italy

18th Sep 2016 15:43 UTCWilfried Steffens

Buona sera,

as I could not find a "localities" or "collecting" header with such topics, I am posing the question here.

For next year, probably in September, I am considering a cultural trip to Venice, combined with zeolite collecting in Northern Italy, esp. Vicenza.

I have quite some specimens from there in my collection, obtained from the late Toni Wieland, but I am unsure regarding the current collecting possibilities.

So I would be most grateful for any advice and/or literature tips. Reading Italian should work...

Thanks much

Unfortunately many quarries in the Verona - Vicenza area are now out of work and someone reforested. For instance the area of the old quarry at Altavilla Vicentina ( see http://www.mindat.org/photo-291463.html ). But if you are looking for microminerals I'm sure there are some site still prolific.

However it's better to wait an advice from someone living in the area about the actual accessibility and ease of collecting.
