GeneralChoosing the thumbnail photograph for 360 degree photos

26th Nov 2016 14:54 UTCBarry Flannery Expert

Is there any way to choose the thumbnail frame for 360 degree photos. I know how to change the start photo for the loop animation but oftentimes the thumbnail is not an ideal angle of the specimen.

It takes the photo half way around, so if you have 50 photos it will take the 25th.

Is there any way to change that? It's a major hassle uploading photos again as the uploads are so large.

At present I'm left with a lot of sub-optimally positioned thumbnails.

How hard would it be to implement something similar to where we take the start point from? Perhaps a simpler fix still would be for it to take the animation start point as the thumbnail, this would be more natural and presumably easier to implement ?

Any thoughts on whether the above suggestion can be implemented?

I'll have a look. No promises though.

Ok, try changing the start frame now in the photo edit page. If the start frame is already what you want it to be you may need to change it and then change it back.

Jolyon,

It doesn't appear to have worked. I tried changing the frame forward and back but it didn't do anything? Any other suggestions?

Haven't received it

Sent a PM there. It seems that some of the gallery photos have updated. Perhaps when viewing the gallery mode for sites it takes a while for the whole system to refresh and update the thumbnails?

I've changed the remainder of the photos start thumbnails to see if they all change over tomorrow.

Yes, possibly caching.

Jolyon,

It is working correctly now. It was a mix of probably server caching and then local browser caching. I cleared my browser's cache and they are all updated correctly now.
