DescriptionThe Marble Museum is inside the Gradinha marble quarry. This museum offers an interesting look at Alentejo's local marble industry, which has sustained Vila Viçosa and made it prosperous in the last decades.
Since the extration to the processing of marble, through the presentation of objects and tools used, the Museum offers visitors valuable information about past and present of an activity that dates back to Roman times, season when they met the first traces of the marble exploration in the region.
