Cloudina of the Ara Formation, - Conway Morris et. al 1990 | Conway Morris S., Mattes B. W., et al (1990) | Huqf - Ara | There is a close similarity between the Omani Cloudina, C harmannae from the Kubis and Schwarzrand Subgroup of Namibia, and Cloudina sp. from Spain. This suggests that the Ara Formation examples are also of latest Precambrian Age. However, independent information for the age of the formation is elusive. Radiometric dating of Ara carbonates indicate an age of 550+- 10Ma, which is close to the accepted Precambrian-Cambrian boundary. The facies range from coastal plain through shallow platform | "limestone" | 635 - 541 Ma Neoproterozoic |
