Hematite, Magnetite

Locality: Payún volcano, Altiplano de Payún Matru, Malargüe Department, Mendoza, Argentina

8.0 x 5.5 x 4.2 cm. Perfect floater! Resembling the letter “T”, this stunning metallic pseudomorph of hematite after magnetite features several sharp, very lustrous, octahedrons to 2.5 cm across perched on an elongated stalk. This is a pristine floater, complete all around, with better lustre in person than appears here.
