Abstract/NotesBartonite, а potassium iron sulfide repprsented Ьу its chlorine-free variety, was, for the first time in Russia, found а! Kedykverpakh Mt, in Lovozero alkaline massif, Kola Peninsula. The соmрасt segregation of bartonite (as large as 13 х 6 mm) was detected occurring in а natrolite vein with ussingite, trona, etc. Chemical composition, X-ray powder pattern data, reflectance values and microindentation hardness of the Lovozero bartonite are given in the paper. Its empirical formula is: (К5.48Nа0.06Тl0.04)Σ5.58Fе21.48S2б.94. Tetragonal unit сеll parameters are: а = 10.448(1), с =20.670(4). А. The phenomenon under discussion is the fractionation of alkali elements in hyperagpaitic pegmatites.
