A very aesthetic and sculptural combination plate from Jalgaon featuring a gorgeous, lustrous, translucent, dark maroon-brown colored group of heulandite-Ca blades associated sitting atop a thin chalcedony-coated plate of basalt. The heulandite group measures 3.1 cm long. Most heulandite around the world is often white or colorless, and this richly colored heulandite varietal is rare outside of India. Excellent condition with only a few tiny imperfections that I can see to the heulandite. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
