Rich specimen of Almandine garnet crystals in schist matrix from the well known Wrangell Island locality in Alaska. The crystals reach 1.5cm wide with purple/red coloration and translucency and are well exposed from the schist. The collector must have been very happy to see this one with 5 good crystals in one small piece of schist. A USA classic.
