Pyrite
Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, USA
This is a small cabinet specimen of pyrite from the US Highway 421 roadcut near Madison, Indiana. The matrix rock is dated to the middle Ordovician Dillsboro Formation (~450.7 ma). Pyrite is commonly found at this locality, but it is typically altered due to exposure.
