FOV=4.5 mm. Olivine phenocrysts in an olivine lamproite dyke, Argyle mine. This is the type of magma which transported diamonds to the upper crust. The second generation of olivine growing syntaxially on larger phenocrysts is characteristic. Self-collected.

This terrible but still useful photo is a digitized 1993 transparency, captured through a thick window at the Argyle mine. I estimate the largest crystals at 8-10 mm. The dish at the top left corner contains Ellendale diamonds. Both are remarkable for the intensity and range of colors.

A very tiny crude octahedral colourless diamond crystal from the now closed Argyle Diamond Mine. There are black spherical inclusions inside the diamond crystal that are potentially graphite, but this is not confirmed.
