Pseudobrookite and hematite from the quarry on Mount Shadwell. The growth of the pseudobrookite crystal seems to have been affected by the nearby hematite. Field of view: 1mm.
From the quarry on the eastern hill of The Anakies, this crystal of pseudobrookite is comparatively shorter and wider than is usual for the locality.
Pseudobrookite crystals in a vugh in basalt from the old quarry on the middle hill of The Anakies.
Pseudobrookite from the scoria quarry on the eastern hill of The Anakies. This rather wide crystal is so thin that the crystal behind it is showing up plainly.
From the quarry on the eastern hill of The Anakies, pseudobrookite in a vugh in scoria. This tiny crystal is comparatively long and thin, and somewhat translucent.
Tiny lustrous brown crystals of pseudobrookite from the scoria quarry on Mount Shadwell. The scattered orange crystals were not identified. Field of view: 2mm.

In a little cavity in scoria, tiny brownish crystals of pseudobrookite with some white clusters of calcite.
Brown pseudobrookite crystals with tiny yellow transparent enstatite crystals. The larger pseudobrookite crystal has a "bend" in it, clearly an abrupt change of growth direction, not rare but also not common at this locality. The smaller crystal is highly reflective. Magnetite is out of view of this photo. Ex Dick Haslam Collection. Width of view ...
