“Euhedral, cubic crystals of translucent yellow macedonite (centre, and lowermost centre) in translucent calcite, with associated hausmannite (greyish, with deep red internal reflexes).
Photomicrograph in reflected, polarised light, nearly crossed polars.
Scale bar (red, upper left) equals 50 micrometers. Focus was set slightly below the surface of the section (cf. slightly blurred hausmannite), to increase visibility of the crystal morphology.
Macedonite verified by SEM-EDS analysis.”
