I didn't expect to bring home mineral specimens from the local Trader Joe's chain (grocery) store, but these hoppered "Cypriot Pyramid Salt" crystals, up to a centimeter across, are pretty interesting. A 45-gram jar was in my price range ($1.50), and I can put the damaged specimens on my potatoes. Googling around, I see they are made (in Cyprus) by slowly boiling sea water in large pans (so yes, they are man-made). The top one is turned over to show that they're hollow.
