Mineral ExchangesFor Trade: very rich Scheelite, Idaho

20th Jul 2010 01:22 UTCPMP

I am currently working as an exploration geologist on some Gold properties in Northern Idaho and have some specimens of very rich Scheelite in quartz for trade. The locality is the Golden Chest Mine, Murray, Shoshone County Idaho, a small orogenic gold deposit situated in the Belt supergroup, a large paleozoic sedimentary basin extending across northern Idaho and into B.C and Montana. Anyways, I have specimens from ~2x2" to 10x12" and all are quite rich, some almost solid scheelite. I actually haven't checked the fluorescence since my U.V lights are back on the East Coast at my parents house currently, but assume it is blue . More Interested in crystallized daylight specimens in return, but fluorescent stuff is nice too.

Thanks! -Phil Persson

Phil,

R U Franklin Phil? If so, I was wondering how you were and where you had gotten off to.

Either way, I think it would be best to have your folks send you out your lamp. I am sure you could use it out there on many items and be certain on this one. I would like to trade with you but need to be sure first and the other thing is I am also on the east coast. Are you planning a visit anytime soon?

Phil,

If you are into fluorscents, I have a large amount of very nice Desert View Mine (wollastonite/calcite/aragonite) which offers nice three color specimens in sizes ranging from 3" to 12". I also have other fluorescents, and am quite interested in obtaining a large amount of the near pure (100%) concentration specimens of scheelite from the locale you describe. Let's work some trade exchange and I am sure we'll both be happy. I am a 28+ year fluorescent mineral enthusiast, geological engineer by education, current FMS Board Member and UV Waves editor. Look forward in hearing back from you.
