Post-Mining Minerals of Tynebottom Mine, Cumbria
by Steve Rust
Tynebottom Mine is located 0.75 km N.W. of Garrigill village just west of the South Tyne river. The minerals visually recorded are mainly copper and lead sulphates, being found underground in the 'flats' above the High Adit.

There was some work on post mining copper sulphide deposits conducted on the Keweenaw Peninsula after the mining ceased in the 1970's and also some additional work that was done just recently as well. You may want to contact Dr. George Robinson of the Seaman Mineral Musuem in Houghton for more details. I personally worked on a couple of those research projects myself, including writing the final paper for one of the projects.
I'm not aware of any books published specifically on the topic; only scattered bits and pieces in geologic journals and other periodicals...

is good - it deals with a lot of secondary minerals and how they are formed.
The group of Pete Williams, current head of the CNMMN of the IMA, has published a larger number of papers on secondary copper sulphates and their stabilities.
