The rope pictured, one of several was greatly appreciated. Manuevering on this slope without would be dicey. Oct. of 2012.

Pseudomorphs- Goethite/Limonite After Pyrite

06773120014947874692841.jpg
York County, Pennsylvania, USA

Representative material found at this undisclosed clay pit in York, Pa. The pseudomorphs pictured are far larger then those from the well known localities in Lancaster County. Those who know me know I don't photograph minerals but I felt these specimens were significant for the state. Not pictured although collected were pseudomorphs still in matrix and those where the process was incomplete so that large pyrite crystal faces were still evident. September of 2012.

York County, Pennsylvania, USA

A field trip brought our club, PESA to this clay pit, known for large pseudomorphs of Limonite/Goethite after Pyrite. Private property-visited with permission. September of 2012.

Not exactly sure what caused the patterns to form on the shale.
