Middle portal
Nickel mine, Bolivia, Cottonwood Canyon, Table Mountain Mining District, Churchill County, Nevada, USAThis is referenced as the middle portal solely due to the fact that elevation wise, it is about midway between the haulage portal near Cottonwood Creek and the upper adits. The portal leads to multiple adits, stopes and two declines. With respect to mineralization, there was not a lot in this area. We did find a small deposit of sulfur which appeared to have formed after the adit was constructed. We also found a metallic mineral with a green oxidation mineral associated with it. We suspect the green oxidation is annabergite but did not have it tested.

Nickel mine, Bolivia, Cottonwood Canyon, Table Mountain Mining District, Churchill County, Nevada, USAA view of the western half of the mineralized area that was worked by the early miners as viewed from Cottonwood Canyon. A spongy mass of what looked like a weathered vein of erythrite started at the base of the mountain where a haulage portal is located, and ran at about a 30-degree incline up the face of the mountain. We explored this vein but did not encounter any collectible material. We did run into a rattlesnake near the haulage portal.
