Torgola Mine, Collio, Brescia Province, Lombardy, Italy

Largest Crystal Size: 3 mm

Black Sphalerit from Torgola mine. Personal finding when was opened a new exit gallery for the minerals to be loaded on the trucks. It is a special finding because cristallized Sphalerite was never reported from Torgola mine. Cristallized Sphalerite was found only the 1st week of the opening of above mentioned gallery. Nothing else found during the following 3 weeks before closing.

Extremely rare to find cristallized Sphalerite from the Torgola mine. The cristal in top-center is about 2 mm. I collected in 7/1987 when was opened a new gallery at (probably) the top of the mineralized area. That Afternoon I collected 15 pieces. Nothing was ever found in the 3 following weeks, when the gallery was closed. The mineral was green fluorite with some inclusions of compact Blenda, quartz and siderite. Found also black Sphalerite in XX.
