A former surface and underground Cu-Au-Ag mine located in the SE¼NE¼ sec. 7, T4S, R29E, at the head of Pinkaro Gulch, on the prominent ridge to the east of the head of Copperplate Gulch, 2.0 miles NW of Morenci open pit; 2.75 miles SW of Metcalf, on private land. Alternate coordinates provided: 33.0028N, 109.3944W. Owners included the Arizona Copper Co. Ltd.
Mineralization is a tabular ore body. The vein is accompanied E of the shaft by a porphyry dike that reaches widths of 200 feet and does not seem to follow the fault fissure. Associated rock unit is the Coronado Quartzite. The vein is located on a subordinate fault fissure. Ore concentration is mineralization along fissure veins with some surface leaching. Alteration is surface oxidation.
The majority of the fissure veins in this region contain oxidized copper ores in their upper levels. Area structures include block faulting south of the Great Coronado Fissure vein with a downthrow of 1200 feet on the southern side and gentle westward dip.
Tectonic component is the Coronado Granite Massif surrounded by peripheral faults.
Workings achieved a depth of 30.48 meters. Developments included one shaft 100 feet deep and several surface cuts. Ores have been stoped along surface cuts to a width of 3 feet. No production data.
