A small phosphate deposit originally said to contain approx 7000 tons of phosphate rock, although 1909 record show only 80 tons had been mined and dressed to that point. There are no further production records.
The Island has since been reserved from the operations of the Mining Act, meaning all mining or fossicking is now prohibited on the island (which is quite common on most of South Australia's islands).
