A former small underground Au-Ag-Pb-Zn-Cu mine located in the SW ¼ sec. 5, T.22S., R.10E. Produced 1925-1940. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by Tom Rutledge; Torrey & Roper; Tony Atwood; and the Byfield Mining & Milling Co.
Mineralization is irregular quartz-fissure veins with spotty base metal sulfides, oxidized and weathered near the surface with enrichment, cutting metamorphosed Cretaceous sedimentary formations. Alteration includes oxidation and weathering near the surface.
Workings include shaft and tunnel operations. Probably originally worked in the early 1900's and sporadically from 1930 through 1940. It produced some 100 tons of ore averaging about 0.5 oz. Au and 15 oz. Ag/T, 5% Pb and 1% Cu.
Workings include a shaft and tunnel workings.
