Deer Park Barite #1 Mine; Barite #1 Mine

A barite mine along the North Fork of Chamokane Creek. The barite occurred as a vein in argillite from 3'-8' wide. Development consisted of an adit with around 470' of workings and a pit. Some ore was produced from the adit and the pit.

Note: The underground workings of this deposit are referred to in Moen (1964) as the Schallenberger Mine, but the surface cut on the same vein is called the Deer Park Barite #1 Mine.
