A reported placer Au occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 8, T16N, R11E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.4 mile) SSE of Negro Jack Hill (coordinates of record), along the E slope of the hill (W canyon wall of the Bear River), on National Forest land. The property comprises 125.784 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Possibly extends into sec. 17. USGS quadrangle shows location of the adit of this mine on the section line between the SW¼SW¼ sec. 8 and the NW¼NW¼ sec. 17, at 3,880 feet elevation.
Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of at least an adit.
