Was this dump researched in terms of mineralogy and gas composition?
I am currently conducting a research on gas chemistry from burning heaps, and also on some mineralogy, and would be interested (if there's noone working on it, of course ;-)).

No so far. We planned to do that, but never got around to visit the locality. According to info I got in June 2014, the dump is still smoking in three spots.
A study would be interesting for a Bachelor or PhD student.

Not before April/May next year (no time for any new project before that teim); I would also like to have Chris Auer and the GBA (Geol. Survey of Austria) on the team, and maybe some colleagues from Graz (Joanneum and/or Uni).
So, ask me again next year.
