18th Mar 2007 19:58 UTCElizabeth McRorie
Facts:
14" x 6" x 4"
weighs about 14 lbs
dissolves in water
tastes nasty/salty.. not like my other halite that just tastes salty
very fragile
scratches white
mohs - 2
I think it's octahedral but I am not very good at crystal systems :)
transparant to translucent crystals..top crystals are tipped clear with what looks like purple phantoms inside
I have searched the internet high and low and can't find anything like it.

When I first started out in the hobby I was given an old collection, included was an octahedral white crystal I thought was sylvite but later I found was alum. That was educational for me.
Nice photo of some nice crystals.

"Cermikite" appears to be another made-up marketing name. I don't find it in any of my mineral references. Did you try looking it up here at Mindat? (I haven't given that a shot yet.) It might already be entered here, with an explanation of what it refers to.
Regards
Alan
