Greetings. I was at a mineral show in Northern NJ yesterday and I met a young man who had an interesting story. A friend of his was a construction worker at the World Trade Center Site in NY recently. During blasting for new construction, mineralized rock was uncovered. The young man's friend brought him a large bag containing mica "books" with garnet crystals and massive quartz, along with several other minerals. The area is now completely covered by concrete. Just thought I would pass this story along. Gary

Gary,

Thanks for the info. When the first towers were being built I worked near the site and was amazed by the pegmatites that crisscrossed the bedrock when they were blasting for the foundations. Maybe I will run into your guy at the Franklin Show in September. I was unable to get up there yesterday. so I wonder how you thought the show went. I enjoyed the first show back in October and was hoping to go back. .

Best wishes,

Joe

Joe, the show was great! There were quite a few dealers, lots of people stopping by and great weather. I sold 2-3 flats of mineral specimens and even picked up a few new pieces. I was very suprised at the turnout, considering it was on Sunday. Hopefull that the next show in October will be even better. Jeff Wilson and Ron did a great job of organinzing things, it was a stress-free and pleasant atmosphere. Gary

Gary,

Maybe the club should have the show 4 to 6 times a year. Now I'm really sorry I was in a lazy mood yesterday.

Best,

Joe
