GeneralAmbodivandrika

Hi,

I would like to update the mineral list in the locality Ambodivandrika, Madagascar.

Only emerald in this locality was confirmed so far. Yesterday I tried to add few more minerals I have seen at the mine. Then I wanted to add some pictures for the locality.

Now no minerals appear on the mineral list anymore. I may I have done something wrong.

Could someone explain to me what happened in order to fix that?

Thanks in advance!

Julien

Julien, Thanks for your contribution!!! It is awaiting approval by the Madegascar 'experts'. It should be up or you should get some feedback in a few days.:-)

Hi!

Thanks for your feedback.

To add more precision: I've been quite a few times there the last 3 years, the mine owner is a good friend of mine. I even collected personally some nice pieces there. I will even add some pictures of the mine. But only alexandrite and emerald pictures will be added to the database as I bought some, I didn't take pictures of the other species. But definitely present at this mine.

All the minerals I want to add are 100% confirmed (visually first, then with common gemological tools when possible), Even if I was not able to confirm the exact garnet species.

Alexandrite crystals are really cute, quite small but really sharp and strong to very strong color change.

Julien,

Are there any "common minerals" present at the locality? Quartz, biotite, etc. We would like to see a complete species list for every locality, but it seems that only the more glamorous species are added first. Do you have photos of the localities and of the miners?

Hi!

Yes biotite and quartz (and quartzite) are of course present. That's true I didn't think to add these, but they are obviously present.

Yes I have some pictures of the mine and miners, I'm going to add some.

Regards
