"Geologically interested hikers, fossil and mineral collectors will therefore find many possible activities in this small area."

Last time I heard a similar phrase I was a young kid and went immediately with my small hammer to dig and extract stuff. My parents still remember the truckload of chunks in our car...

I do live relatively close to Liechtenstein (Zurich...), so if somebody wants to go, just drop me a mail and we can handle it!!

I'm also exploiting that topic to avoid opening a new one: does anybody know any mineral loc near zurich? Perhaps 1 or 1,5h far by car from the town?

I mean apart from the few declared on mindat.

Hi everybody

I lived and worked in Lichtenstein almost 20 years ago.

Most of my finds were in Switzerland and Austria, although close to Lichtenstein.

I found some descent alpine clefts with adularia crystals, quartz crystals, siderite/ankerite....but nothing really interesting or exciting.

If you find rosequartz or other for Lichtenstein "exotic" minerals and varieties theu may originate elsewhere. For instance a dental co bought tons of rosequartz from a finnish pegmatite long ago.

Alpine clefts are to be found in the higher mtn regions (lower covered by soil) but in the very SW of the tiny country some alpine clefts are exposed not high above the valley floor.

Besides mentioned cleft parageneses I found some calcite.

The North Korea lengenbachite ????

Wasn't there a country that years ago ripped off some totally unrelated Jeff Scovil photos to use on its stamps?

I went to Liechtenstein as a kid. We showed up at the Prince's castle(I think it was a Prince- It was right on a Main Road)and asked nicely for a tour. We were told to get lost. We laughed about it for years.

We collected some nice things in Austria and Switzerland.

...If...I had chosen the right job (not being a musician and artist..) I would have put my money in a Liechtenstein bank (honestly earned....) and would have collected it yesterday...

Cheers
