Techniques for CollectorsUrgent help needed with perky boxes

6th Oct 2014 07:14 UTCReinhardt van Vuuren

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but the South African Micromount society used to import perky boxes and then distribute it to all the members as needed, something has come up and they have lost connection with the supplier as such they have run out of boxes, this is a huge problem as it halts the hobby in South Africa. The club orders in bulk to reduce the cost of the boxes, can anyone please help with a point into the right direction as to where we can establish a new supplier at an affordable rate. Our previous batch of boxes came in at ZAR0.98 each box with lid.

Any help would be largely appreciated.

Kind regards

Try Althor Products at althor.com and look at their list of hinged-lid boxes.

Reinhardt those are actually 'Acrylic' boxes and not Perky Thumbnail boxes. Perky boxes are the boxes more often seen in Thumbnails or small miniature samples. I personally prefer the Acrylic boxes as they give a better view and allow you to mount the label on the bottom. Whereas with a Perky box the label must be put behind the sample somewhat obscuring the view. However either box still provides a good protection of the sample and view.

That's a great price, under 5p each, here in the UK I use UKGE and 1000+ of the smallest/cheapest are twice that price.

Here in the UK I pay £8 per 100 of 27 x 27 x 21mm clear boxes from a pal. Am not sure of the actual source but I believe they are made in Poland and are actually sold in bulk by weight so in a bag of 100 one might actually get say 98 or 103 boxes. I shall try to get the name of the importer and post my findings here.

Regards,

Jay.
