Hello all,

I've received this specimen of "Staurolite in Gneiss" from "Timola, Finland".

Timola is located about 15km to the southeast of Leppävirta, which has this locality associated with it: http://www.mindat.org/loc-253736.html

Could someone please add Timola (and the occurrence of Staurolite there) to the database?

Thanks,

Vik

Why not add it yourself?

This broken link is for Timola gold occurrence, Kuhmo, Northern Finland. I can add it to Mindat.

The Timola gold occurrence is probably the same as http://www.mindat.org/loc-263734.html.

Please do add the link at the locality page.

The place Timola Vik is refering to above (recently added to Mindat- see http://www.mindat.org/loc-263724.html,) is another place.

I am not sure if this is a mineral locality.

Ilkka, do you happen know from where the Staurolite may have been found ?

Maybe Timola in Sotkamo municipality.

Staurolite is at least known from several occurences in Sotkamo.

Hello Knut Edvard

I added the Timola gold occurrence.

The staurolite sample could be from Timola, Leppävirta. There is mica gneiss in Timola. Staurolite is common porfyroblast in Eastern Finland mica gneiss.
