Improving Mindat.orgFirst recorded locality for Wad

25th Oct 2016 16:22 UTCReiner Mielke Expert

http://www.mindat.org/min-4225.html According to Mindat that locality is Sterling Hill New Jersey!? This conflicts with the description on the page. The first recorded locality would appear to be in the late 1500's and was used for graphite http://www.mindat.org/forum.php?read,9,307847,308123#msg-308123. Even if you assume it means a manganese oxide the term would likely have first been applied sometime in the 1700's to material from Europe or possibly even earlier.

That is due to the flow through of varieties. Anomalite (a variety of wad?) was first described from Franklin.

We had this problem before with other varieties' FRLs flowing through to the parent species. Can it be blocked, so that FRLs of varieties don't propagate higher up the tree?

Yes. Not entirely sure why this happens but I will fix it
