Name:
After Lucian Bia (Liège, Belgium, December 2 1852 - Tenke, DRCongo August 30 1892), an explorer of the Belgian Congo.
Synonym:
A synonym of Wavellite
A sample with a mineral occuring as spherules composed of white needles on a dense phospate matrix originating from Mushishimano, Democratic Republic of the Congo was analyzed, described and named as a new mineral with the name bialite by Buttgenbach in 1927-28. The sample was provided by Emile Richet.
The mineral was later found to be identical with wavellite and descredited.
